Ottawa, Ontario and Montréal, Quebec

Today, Their Royal Highnesses will start their day by meeting with Their Excellencies at Rideau Hall. The Prince will then meet with Prime Minister Harper. His Royal Highness will accept on behalf of Prince William and Prince Harry, appointments as honourary Canadian Rangers. The Prince of Wales, Prince William and Prince Harry highlight Canadian youth achievement by accepting these appointments: The motto of the Canadian Rangers is Vigilans (the watchers). Approximately 4,200 Rangers make up 163 patrols across Canada, many of whom are Aboriginal and speak a variety of native languages. They respond to aircraft crashes in the far north and participate as observers/guides on Canada's West Coast, countering illegal immigration.

The Prince meets with Mr. Ignatieff, leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition.

Their Royal Highnesses then fly to Montréal where they meet with Premier Jean Charest.

Their Royal Highnesses profile the amazing Canadian success story of Cirque du Soleil by visiting the Cirque's international headquarters, where they will see both backstage activities such as costumes, make-up and rehearsals together with a dazzling performance. Cirque du Soleil is an example of the Canadian innovation and creativity that has made Canada a player on the world stage.

The Prince visits the Biodôme and receives presentations on environmental issues. The Prince, who has established a number of initiatives to help tackle climate change, including The Prince's Rainforest Project (PRP) visits two of the four climate-controlled areas of the Montréal Biodôme. In the tropical rainforest area he will meet schoolchildren who are studying the effects of tropical deforestation on climate change. His Royal Highness will then move onto the polar region area where he will talk with Ouranos scientists about the devastating effects of global warming on local communities.

His Royal Highness ends the day by honouring Canadian military traditions. He presents new colours to The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada and meets members of the Regimental Family, including serving, retired and civilian supporters. Their Royal Highnesses will also meet and recognize recent veterans of Afghanistan. They return to Ottawa after the event.
